The high speed of the medical centrifuge ensures that the mixtures placed therein are separated according to the precipitation principle. Heavy parts are collected at the bottom of the tube by centrifugal force (goes outward in a circular motion). Suspensions or emulsions can be readily separated in this manner. For example, the blood can be separated so that serum is at the top, fat is in the middle and the clot remains at the bottom.
