The CARBONTEST, housed in a 39x34x14 cm coloured polypropylene Case has been designed to hold everything necessary for performing the collection and analysis of depth of carbonation.
It consists of a Picker for powder collection: a ring-shaped capturing head with a sealing element , where the lower part of the ring ends in a funnel leading the powder into the relevant test tube.
The 25 single use Test Tubes made of styrene acrylonitrile 18 cm long and with an inside passing width of 9 mm can be used to perform several collections. The transparent container comes with a special thin cut along the generator of the container which lets through the chemical reagent while keeping the powder inside.
The reagent, contained in a 125 ml bottle with an anti-evaporation cap, is a 1% alcoholic solution of phenolphthalein featuring a reaction range between pH 8,3 and pH 10,0 which determines a colour change to pink of the powder not affected by carbonation.
To dose out the solution onto the collected sample, the set includes a 3ml dosing Pasteur pipette which makes it simple and easy to place the phenolphthalein along the thin cut of the test tube.
To measure the depth of the hole made to take, and to check the carbonation on the powder sample collected inside the test tube, there is a polypropylene ruler with graded notches in cm and inches.
To seal the hole, a repair resin tube for cement, 250 gr, is available, suitable for smooth surfaces, grey colour, which can be polished and painted for indoors and outdoors application with temperatures between +5°C and +30°C.
