NF-P18-452 Concrete Workability Meter

Concrete workability meter (also known as plastometer) measures the dynamic workability of concrete.

The device is used in both the laboratory and on-site to measure the following:

• The content of the concrete mixture, especially the water content
• The optimal ratio of components in the concrete mixture (sand, gravel, water, cement)
• Possible development when mixed with a plasticizer
• Comparison of two concrete types

The device consists of a two-compartment prismatic receiver with unequal, removable parts and an electric vibrator. Fresh concrete is poured into the larger compartment, the dividing partition is lifted, and the vibrator starts automatically.

The test includes the time required for the concrete to distribute uniformly in the receivers.
