It is a simple and lightweight device for measuring static penetration resistance. The mechanical force is directly provided by the operator and pushes the cone into the ground by pushing the T-handle. The resistance encountered is measured on the attached load ring. Tests are only possible in soils with good consistency and at shallow depths.
