Wear Bohme Test Device

EN 1338:2004 - EN 1339 - EN 1340 - EN 13892-3 - EN 14157 - DIN 52108

Measures the volume loss of the sample under wear testing and is used for wear tests of the following materials:

  • Paving stones
  • Concrete structural elements
  • Elements made from natural stones
  • Natural stone structural elements

The device is positioned so that the load can be transmitted vertically to the center of the sample via the loading bar. The lever's own weight is balanced with the counterweight where the load and loading weight will be placed.

The load acting on the sample is found by multiplying the loading weight by the lever arm, (294±3) N (corresponding to 5.88 N/cm² or approximately 0.06 N/mm²).

Before testing, the specific gravity and thickness of the sample must be determined. The test should be between 16-22 revolutions, and at the end of the test, the average volume and weight should be calculated.

The device consists of the following parts:

  • The rotating disk has a diameter of 750 mm and is placed horizontally. When load is applied, the speed is (30±1) mm/second.
  • Test track: The test track has an inner radius of 120 mm, outer radius of 320 mm, and width of 200 mm, the test track can be changed if requested.
  • Electronic control panel consists of start/stop button and programmable 5-digit digital counter.
  • Sample holder
