Benkelman Beam Apparatus
Benkelman Beam Apparatus Benkelman Beam Apparatus

The Benkelman beam is used to measure the deflection of flexible pavements under standard wheel load.

The device consists of a frame with adjustable supports and a movable arm that rests on a dial gauge; while the inner arm touches the dial gauge, its outer end rests on the ground.

The dial gauge provides road deflection readings.

Testform has carefully designed and manufactured the device to guarantee the accuracy required for measuring infinite arm rotations according to the arm ratio (1:2).

To achieve these features, light alloys have been used for structural components, precision machine tools for mechanisms, and low-friction bearings for moving parts.

It is equipped with a special electric vibrator powered by a rechargeable battery to prevent separation resistance.

Models without this vibrator systematically provide lower deflection measurements than actual values, thus making the test unreliable.

A canopy is specially designed to reduce irregularities that occur during sun exposure.

The device can be easily disassembled for transport and placed in a storage box.

It comes with a dial gauge (80 mm diameter, 0.01 division, 30 mm travel) and a periscope for easy gauge reading.
