Scratch Hardness Testing Device

Introduction

Taber abrasion/hardness testing machines for plastics and textile abrasion testing are suitable for testing the scratch resistance of decorative wood-based panels by rotating the sample under a specific load of a diamond needle.

Application

Used for various automotive interior materials such as plastics, rubber, leather, fabric, coating materials, and other non-composite materials for scratch resistance determination.

Usage

Before loading the sample, you need to adjust the weighing bar to the appropriate height according to the sample thickness. The precision cutting tool is attached to the weighing bar and placed on the sample. After starting the device, the turntable is rotated at a constant speed to ensure accurate measurement results. By changing the load on the cutting tool, you can evaluate the material's resistance to cutting or scratch resistance performance.

The instrument's weighing beam design ensures that it is aligned with the sample and turntable, and can be raised or lowered according to actual needs. Additionally, the weighing beam can also be lifted to facilitate the operator's removal of the sample. By changing the position of the sliding balancing weight, the total load on the sample can be adjusted in the range of 0-1000g. Cutting tools can be selected using tungsten carbide tools or a circular conical diamond head. The user who visually evaluates the test results with a 10x magnifier can also use a high-precision optical microscope for observation.
