Multipycnometer Model
A true density analysis device for powders, foams, and solid materials.
Quantachrome pycnometers determine true density in solid, powder, and foam materials by implementing "Boyle's Law" equations based on Archimedes (displacement and gas expansion) principles.
In the device's operating principle, a gas (helium is recommended) is used as the displacement fluid. It must be able to penetrate even the finest pores of the sample to be analyzed, thereby providing us with the sample's true volume. Thus, the density of our sample with known mass is calculated with "maximum accuracy." The device is also suitable for operation with other gases such as nitrogen.
Applications
Pycnometers are widely used in R&D and quality control processes in various industries including ceramics, cement, catalysis, nuclear fuel, petrochemicals, soil, fertilizers, carbon blacks, charcoal, fibers, minerals, pharmaceuticals, driers (siccatives), atomized metals, ion exchange resins, silica, alumina, titanium, cosmetics, powdered foods, rigid foam materials, and many more.
General Information
Multipycnometer™ enables us to easily reach the true density value through the volume value found by performing true volume measurement. All Quantachrome models allow for precise (high-resolution) adjustment and control of pressurization and evacuation speeds through a digital display-screen (software). Density determination can be performed in less than 1 minute. With RS232 connection and software, data can be stored in a computer environment, and average and standard deviation values can also be calculated.
Superior Design - Precise Analysis
Multipycnometer™ features multi-volume capability, offering 3 interchangeable sample cells in different sizes and 3 calibrated, internal reference volumes in different sizes. This allows for separate use of internal (within the device) reference volumes appropriate for the selected sample cell when measurements are made with different volume sample cells. This feature enables the Multipycnometer™ model to perform analysis with high precision and accuracy, placing it ahead of its competitors.
