Rubber Bounce Flexibility Test Device
Categories:

Application

The determination of rebound resilience is performed by dropping a piston of a specific mass and geometry from a predetermined height onto the surface of the test specimen and measuring the distance the piston rebounds after contact. Evaluation is made by calculating the ratio of the rebound distance to the distance the mass traveled before contacting the test specimen.

This ratio is expressed as a percentage and since the scale is divided into 100 equal parts, when the piston rebounds to maximum height, this ratio can be read directly from the scale.

This device is particularly useful in compounds developed to transmit shock or vibration, because "resilience is a function of the rubber's dynamic modulus and internal friction" (ASTM D2632 Section 4).
