APPLICATION

With our MFI device, it is possible to test two procedures applied for determining the melt flow rate (MFR) and melt volume flow rate (MVR) of a thermoplastic material according to ISO 1133, ASTM D1238, and ASTM D336 standards. These procedures involve the mass flow rate and volume flow rate of a sample drawn from a die under specific length, diameter, temperature, and pressure conditions.

Method A

Melt Flow Rate measurement (MFR) is a mass measurement method. The MFR value of samples coming out of the die is found on an analytical balance with 0.1 mg precision.

Method B

Melt Volume Flow Rate (MVR) is automatically calculated by entering the density value into the digital panel.

General Features

• Temperature setting: Can be set to 100/300 °C in steps of ±0.1 °C.
• Preheating system: After being defined via the panel menu, it operates fully automatically and gives visual and acoustic alarms when completed.
• Weight loading system: Manual loading.
• Automatic cutting knife: After being defined via the panel menu, it automatically activates and stops at specified intervals.
• Acoustic and Visual Alarm: Thanks to the user-friendly, stage-by-stage test management software, it activates at the end of each parameter. During this time, users can concentrate on their other tasks.
• Waste cutting time definition: This feature automatically calculates the discarding time by pre-cutting the part of the sample containing air voids that comes right after melting begins.
