Resipod - Concrete Resistance Tester
Resipod - Concrete Resistance Tester Resipod - Concrete Resistance Tester

The electrical resistance of concrete surfaces is directly related to permeability, steel corrosion, reinforcement possibility and ratio, and chloride diffusion rate. The Resipod Meter, produced by Proceq, is available in two models; it has a four-probe Wenner array that is fully integrated into a digital display electronic meter, ready for use in laboratory or field resistance applications.

This simple new test method is based on resistance readings from standard concrete test specimens and is a fast, accurate, and economical alternative to the ASTM C1202 Rapid Chloride Permeability test. The same sample can be used for compressive strength testing, and structural elements in the field can also be checked with the same meter for comparative values. In the laboratory, specific mix designs can be evaluated, and areas within an existing structure can be quickly mapped due to their susceptibility to chloride-induced corrosion of the reinforcing steel.

The CN412-01 Resipod Concrete Resistance Meter has a probe spacing fixed at 38 mm (1.5 inches) as required by AASHTO T 358. The CN412-02 Resipod Concrete Resistance Meter comes with a 50mm (1.97in) probe spacing. The wider spacing allows for a larger sampling size, but in most cases, it is not wide enough to interfere with the reinforcing steel.

Resistance in both models is measured between 1 and 1000 kΩcm, and current is supplied at 10 to 50µA or up to a full 200µA. The permanent memory stores up to 500 measurement values for transfer to a PC using the included Resipod Link software.

The one-piece, handheld Resipod provides instant and reliable readings on the unit's large 3.5-digit LCD screen and is housed in a robust, IP67-class waterproof enclosure. Each contact point of the probe array carries a small water reservoir to ensure reliable electrical contact with the sample surface.

The optional CM412-10 Geometric Accessory is an addition of a four-probe Wenner array with variable probe spacing from 40 to 70 mm (1.57 to 2.76 inches) for testing a wide variety of concrete sample types and mix designs. The CM412-11 Bulk Resistance, used for measuring resistivity in 4x8 inch concrete cylinders, is purchased separately and includes conductive foam-attached measurement plates and a cable-connected instrument stand.

The Resipod - Concrete Resistance Meter Kit includes a test strip, foam contact pads, a USB-powered charger, ResipodLink software, a carrying strap, documentation, and a case. The ResipodLink Windows-based software is used to download all measurements from the device to a PC for analysis and reporting. User-defined correction factors can also be defined in the software and loaded to the device. The charger connects to standard USB ports on computers and laptops.
